STEM BRIDGE CENTER
SBC Bridge2Build
For Grade 2 - 5 (advanced grade 1)

SBC Bridge2Build is a bi-weekly or on-demand community meetup that brings together neurodiverse students, families, and volunteers. It provides a welcoming, low-pressure environment where students build, explore, and connect through LEGO® activities.

Sessions are supported by adult volunteers and student mentors who guide collaborative building, model communication, and encourage peer interaction. At selected events, professionals are invited to share insights with families, helping strengthen understanding and community support.

The program focuses on:
-
Encouraging positive social interaction
-
Building confidence through shared success
-
Supporting communication in natural peer settings
-
Promoting teamwork and collaboration
-
Improving focus and engagement
-
Strengthening fine motor and problem-solving skills
-
Fostering a sense of belonging for both students and families
For Grade 2 - 5 (Advanced grade 1) students, SBC Bridge2Build also serves as a bridge into more structured LEGO learning groups, including FLL preparation. The initiative draws on collaborative play principles commonly referenced in LEGO-based social development models to inform its facilitation approach.

By combining guided play, mentorship, and community connection, SBC Bridge2Build creates an inclusive entry point into both social development and structured STEM learning.
